2020 Panufnik Composers

6 March, 2020

Group pic of composers David Alberman (LSO chair and principal 2nd violin), Christian Mason (composition support) and from left to right Christian Drew, Stef Conner, Chris McCormack, Camilla Panufnik, Patrick Jones, Emma-Kate Matthews, CM, and Alex Paxton.Another year and another group of composers have joined the LSO’s Panufnik Scheme. The six composers came together at LSO St Luke’s recently – they had been selected from the largest number of applicants since the Scheme began in 2005 – no fewer than 218 – and bring the total of composers who’ve participated to 93. Here they are at the end of the two day introductory session with David Alberman (LSO chair and principal 2nd violin), Christian Mason (composition support) and from left to right Christian Drew, Stef Conner, Chris McCormack, Camilla Panufnik, Patrick Jones, Emma-Kate Matthews, myself, and Alex Paxton.

And here they are working with David Alberman on a short study (which they wrote overnight!).

They will work on a piece during the year to be workshopped on March 8 2021. The 2019 group will have their pieces played at St Luke’s on March 26.
