Mechaniks Bench and Mechaniks Bench 2 were both commissioned by COMA (then Contemporary Music Making for Amateurs, now CMM for All) in 2002. Mechaniks Bench 2 is the same music as the original but with an Introduction and Coda added.
The first performance of no. 2 was given by a COMA ensemble under the direction of Gregory Rose at Christ Church Spitalfields in June 2002.
