Last Saturday the Festival Chorus and Soprano Katy Hill, conducted by Andrea Brown, gave a fine first performance of Voices of the Air. The Festival Chorus is a 100+ strong amateur (non-auditioning) choir based close to where I live in Clapham. When they asked me to write a work to celebrate their fortieth anniversary I was delighted to accept. The enthusiasm with which they approached the performance was very good to see, and it was fun to recognise so many local faces both in the choir and the audience.
(Apologies for the rather blurry photo – unfortunately the selection from my daughter Lucy’s phone was rather limited!)
