The long-delayed première of my new work Seascapes took place in the Wigmore Hall on April 27, with Claire Booth and the Nash Ensemble, conducted by Geoffrey Patterson. It was a strange feeling to sit in the empty hall with fellow composers Julian Anderson, Simon Holt and Mark Anthony Turnage, none of us able to acknowledge the performers until the live stream was over; but of course a wonderful experience to hear live music after all this time.
The same players will give a second performance at Aldeburgh on June 5.
Here is a link to the poems by Sidney Keyes that I set.
The live stream is available here for 30 days.
