NMC’s Housewarming Party on December 12 was a special event to mark our arrival at St Margaret’s House, Bethnal Green, home to nearly 30 community organisations and charities. The Gallery Café is an ideal venue, not only providing an excellent space for a party, but with remarkably good acoustics! We heard Rebecca Hepplewhite playing one of Colin Riley’s Lyric Pieces and the violin duo Retorica playing John McCabe’s Spielend. In between Christopher Fox talked to Colin Riley about his new CD Shenanigans, and I talked with Chris Austin about Imogen Holst and John McCabe. Among many old and new friends it was especially good to welcome Monica McCabe, and our first full-time administrator Hannah Taylor. To paraphrase Sgt. Pepper, a splendid time was guaranteed for all.
