The next few weeks are going to be pretty busy. At the weekend I’m off to Aldeburgh for the start of 2016 Aldeburgh Festival. There are performances of Reflected Images by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra (conducted by Ryan Wigglesworth) on 21st June and Night Music by the Britten Sinfonia on 23rd June (conducted by Oliver Knussen). On the 24th June the Britten Pears Contemporary Ensemble will be playing Two Tributes and Flourish with Fireflies. And the premiere of Barrie Gavin’s new film, Colin Matthews at 70, will be at the Aldeburgh cinema on 20th June.
I’ll be based in Aldeburgh for most off the next couple of weeks, but next week I’ll also be heading up to Birmingham to say a fond farewell to Stephen and Jackie Newbould at the BCMG, and then on to Manchester where my music is being featured in a series of concerts hosted by the Royal Northern College of Music and the BBC Philharmonic as a 70th birthday tribute.
My new recording is out this month too – released by NMC on 24th June.
You can also listen to me talking about these performances and more on Radio 3’s In Tune.
