Colin Matthews

Composer

It is fascinating how Matthews can use, almost entirely, dark and subtly shifting colours …

Britten Pears Arts Composition and Performance 2024

12 October, 2024

a large group of musicians, some with instruments, stand together on a concert stage

This is one of those photographs that really needs a key to find the six composers who took part in this year’s Britten Pears Arts Composition Course, hidden amongst the course directors, the ensemble and the course management at the end of the final concert. The composers are Liucile Vilimaite, Mingdu Li, Sam Rudd-Jones, Hy-Khang Dang, Alex Tay and Jasper Eaglesfield. Standing to either side are the excellent course administrators, Betsa Collins and Matt Walker. This was one of the most successful courses in recent years, with a remarkable ensemble directed by Jonathan Berman (front row, centre) and blessed by lovely September weather.
